This is my 1983 T-type Regal. I bought this car
Aug of 2000 with only 50K miles on it. It has the following options on it:
Power windows, power locks, Power front seats(bench 60/40 spilt), CC, A/C,
Delay wipers and factory alarm. Not bad for a 18 year old car. This is the first
Turbo Buick that I have owned and it will not be my last. I use this as my daily
driver for work and get about 17-21 MPG. That mileage is a combination of
highway & city driving. The MPG will get better as I fix the problems and stop
using the turbo & Q-jet so much.
The stock E.T. of this car is 16.9, I have enough mods to take me
in to the 14’s if I can work out the bugs. I have street raced my friends 96
Mustang GT and he does not beat me too bad. This is with all the problems that
I still have on the car and only 9 psi of boost. I'm sure that I can take him
when I get all the bugs worked out and get stickier tires, but by that time he
will have made his own mods and I will back where I started. Looking at his
back bumper(Hehehe, he got married and now will not have the wifes approval
to spent money on the car) CONGRATS BUDDY.
I never would have gotten as far as I have
without the support from my family and the people at
B4Black,TurboBicks.com and last but not least "GOD". I would
like to thank Rich George (B4BLACK) for building the Before Black site to
help us HotAir Carb Slugs out and for all the online help he has given me, Fred
C (FC227) for his Recipe and online help, Freddie (Freddie's Buick) for the
scanned images and online help, Peter, Bill, Turbo_Tim, Turbo_Rich & better half Tonya,
Raven (The Best Thought provoking posts), Jeff Kelly (Familyman), Zap (funnies post),
Steve wood (Best Spell & grammar checker) and SO MANY MORE. We even have
vendors that give out free advice. This is on their own dime and time, how many
repair shops will do this for you.
And the most thankless job of
them all, THE BUILDERS OF THE BB's TO GIVE ME AND ALL OTHERS SOME PLACE TO POST
OUR ? With out these folks behind the scenes most of us would be lost! THANK
YOU GUYS & GALS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!
11/2002 I made it to the track with the car. I was very easy on it due to leaving for a trip 2 days later. I launched with 0 psi boost, set Max boost to 7 psi and used only 3/4 throttle. My first pass was 17.8 @ 75mph in overdrive, full size spare & my 40lb tool box in the trunk ..oppsss. Secound pass same stuff in trunk 16.8 @ 80mph. 3rd & 4th passes were 17.1 & 17.6. All passes had 1.3 or 1.4 Reaction Time, that's slow :) Still not bad for not being at a track in 20 plus years. I'm shooting for the 14's this year.
03/2004 Finally make it back to the track. Still have not made it into the 14's yet butI'm very close. I made 24 passes, first pass was 16.505 @ 82.22 and the last pass was 15.393 @ 89.92. On all but one launch I could not get any traction (205/70/14's) I now have 275/60/15's BFG Radial TA tires.
